Photojournalist James Balog started the “Extreme Ice Survey Project,” under which the photographer and his team work with glaciolologists to set up time-lapse cameras at some of the more significant glacier sites around the world,  in 2007. It was featured in the  documentary Chasing Ice, about the effects of global warming on glaciers, and Balog will speak about his work.
