Mateo Tannatt: A Faun On The Lawn and Other Translations for Laying Bricks
November 23 through January 4, 2014
6150 WILSHIRE BOULEVARD, LOS ANGELES, CA 90048
Mateo Tannatt, whose sculptures casually juxtapose objects like bananas or wigs with minimal steel frames or other such forms, uses produce in his most recent show. There’s a room of phallic clay sculptures of fruit and vegetables, and another with larger-than-life clownish figures lounging on pedestals, a male mannequin with an erection lying on saw horses and a picture of pants hanging in a lemon tree in the corner.
